First Song Choice ( KO KO-Float)

my first choice of song which i will look into maybe making a music video for with permission is the song  float by KO KO, here i have made a mood board to show some ideas towards this song. x I

In this mood board for the song 'Float' I looked mainly for images that related to nature and the word 'float'. It includes people such as children dressed as animals or wearing animal masks and girls dressed in bohemian dresses that blend into the wood set i have chosen that would be by a lake or river with floating candles. The wood set wood be decorated with things hanging from trees such and lights and ribbons including things floating, such as bubbles, lanterns, smoke, glitter and feathers to look like a different world, magical and mysterious as well as dreamy. x I

Florence and The Machine- Rabbit Heart

The amazing delicate lighting in the music video 'Rabbit Heart' by Florence and The Machine as well and the bohemian styled dresses, automatically give this music video a dreamy, fairytale perspective making everything with a sense of beauty and relating to a romanticist image. The fades on top of each other connect to creating a dreamy, soft picture, catching emotion for this song. This technique is something i will bear in mind for my music video. The people used in the music video move in lots of twirly motions, elaborating a floaty movement to connect to the song. Another connection to the song is the Alice and Wonderland theme at the table, showing it all to be slightly crazy on top of the dance movements of the heads. Towards the end of this music video is a funeral like image, however it is created once again with a dreamy sense, making it beautiful with the candles being placed into a lake while she floats off and is seen through a fade at the end. x I

Grouplove-colours

The start of the music video 'colours' by grouplove isn't one I particular like. This is due to the fact i think of the song to be an upbeat, fun tune which isn't how it comes across in the video. However the album it is from is called 'never trust a happy song' which relates extremely well to the music video of this song and is in fact quite clever. The band is portrayed as a wild group, looking quite native and similar to the children in the video 'Featherstone' i posted yesterday, with their feathers, ripped clothing and dirty look. We see in this video the main focus is on the lead singer of the band, who is shown singing the song in the video compared to in 'featherstone' where we see no singer. Each person in the band is shown in a close up slow motion shot when fighting, this helps us to see a descriptive image of each member of the band group. As the song carries on to become more upbeat the video portrays the same image and energy as the band and their song, running wildly while having a bouncy image on the camera is an example of this energy being shown. Towards the end of this music video the lighting changes, changing the mood of the song, from happy and full of adrenalin to a more mellow and sad mood, fitting into the change of their tone of voice in the song. Finally the music video relates back to the start by rewinding back the events that just happened and leaving us with the first to remind us once again to 'never trust a happy song'. x I

Favorited music video (The Paper Kites-Featherstone)

The Paper Kites have recently become one of my favourite bands with their folk/indie genre. The music video for their beautiful song 'featherstone' is one of my preferred ones, highlighting their chosen genre by setting the song in a woodland area which also connects to their album title 'woodland'. The costumes in this video suits the title of the song, portraying a slightly tribal, wild look to the children by for example, dressing them in feathers and animal fur; this allows them to blend in with the woodland set. The shots and camera use, describe the movement of the slow paced song, including close ups to show detail of each child and the similar object they are all picking up, while flicking back to a long shots of the group increasing as more join. Medium shots vary on angles to help describe the habitats these children are sleeping in, creating them to be visualised as woodland animals relating to the woodland creature music being played. Towards the end of the music video, we see these children acting like wild animals to each other, however bearing in mind they are children the use of pillows, feathers and glitter are portrayed as their weapons allowing this music video to connect to the delicate song, making it to be magical and fun. x I
